This is just tragic.

A second survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, has died of suicide, according to police.

The Miami Herald reported that a current student died Saturday night in “an apparent suicide.” Authorities confirmed the death Sunday.

Coral Springs police spokesman Tyler Reik told the Miami Herald the student was a juvenile. Authorities have not identified the student further.

About a week earlier, Sydney Aiello, another survivor of the shooting, died of suicide earlier this month. Aiello recently graduated from the Parkland, Florida, high school.

We just had the one year anniversary of the Parkland School shooting about ten days ago, which means that all of these terrible feelings have been brought back to the surface. As well as a thing called survivors guilt.

Sydney Aiello’s best friend was killed in that shooting, and according to sources she has been having a very difficult time attending classes and going with her life as if nothing ever happened.

What happened has left deep wounds on these young people, most of which it will take decades to heal, and if the folks around them don’t notice they will simply bleed out right in front of our eyes.

Of course, their wounds have also continually been reopened by Right Wing fanatics who have made these young people virtual punching bags on which they can take out their vitriol and feelings of insecurity.

Such pretty girls, both of them. So what’s the counter offensive? They were weak?
While Lori Loughlin can cheat her girls into USC, who didn’t want to go in the first place, or a Palin stockpiling weapons and promoting poop teas?

How many more will it be?
FFS make this crap stop, and look at who are our supposed ‘leaders.’
Nothing, not a word. Just WHEW Muller report.
    Yeah, I’m pissed. SO???

  3. Anonymous March 24, 2019 at 5:53 pm

Knew it at Sandy Hook. They aren’t going to do one damned thing about it.
Lard butt in golden light last night, just bathe in my wonderfulness…..

Or we can put it Track Fuck Up Palin’s terms when people speak out:
“Oh look, the peasants are revolting again….”

Why are people mewling and whining about Mueller – a complete waste of time, thank you Rachel Maddow – instead of taking action to end gun violence? Or income inequality? Or poor pay for teachers? I guess magical thinking about the big strong man coming to save us is more fun than actually doing the work Democrats are supposed to be doing.

As Bill Maher said Friday night, they’re pansies. WTF are they so scared of, and, yes, I realize that he barks from a pulpit he has no intention of leaving because it’s lucrative. No solutions. Same with Maddow.

So now the Parkland murderer has yet another notch on his weapon. And we have suffered another loss to gun violence. Anyone who coddles his/her gun (of any size) while bleating about how the Second Amendment is central to the American way of life just helped murder another young woman whose only “wrongdoing” was to have survived the original killing spree. How very sad. Each day these brave young survivors, who tried so hard to make something positive out of their group tragedy, have to face the ugly reality of this nation’s cold, callous love affair with their misreading of the Second Amendment. How very sad. I hope the community of Parkland High School realize that the task of healing still needs to be done.

“The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) announced Monday it was suing Facebook and YouTube after footage of the Christchurch massacre was livestreamed. According to the complaint, CFCM said it was suing the companies for “broadcasting a message with violent content abetting terrorism, or of a nature likely to seriously violate human dignity and liable to be seen by a minor.” The shooter livestreamed his March 15 attack on two mosques on Facebook for 17 minutes. For hours after the attack, the footage could still be found across Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. The video was also widely shared on Facebook-owned apps Instagram and WhatsApp. Facebook and YouTube have faced increasing criticism for their struggle to stop the spread of white-supremacist content.”
‘New Zealand will launch a high-level inquiry into the terror attacks that killed 50 people at two Christchurch mosques to look at the roles that guns, social media, and spy agencies played ahead of the shootings. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the launch of a Royal Commission of Inquiry, the country’s highest form of investigation. “While New Zealanders and Muslim communities around the world are both grieving and showing compassion for one another, they are also quite rightly asking questions on how this terror attack was able to happen here,” Ardern said. “In short, the inquiry will look at what could have or should have been done to prevent the attack… It will inquire into the individual and his activities before the terrorist attack, including, of course, a look at agencies.” Ardern confirmed the inquiry will look at what the country’s domestic spy agency, the Security Intelligence Service, and its international counterpart, the Government Communications Security Bureau, did ahead of the attack. The country’s police and customs agencies will also be probed.”<the daily beast

“The 49-year-old father of a shooting victim at the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre was found dead this week in what police say was an apparent suicide.

Local news station WFSB reports that Jeremy Richman’s body was found at the Edmond Town Hall on Monday morning. Although police say they believe he took his own life, they have not disclosed the specific cause of death.

Police say they have no reason at this time to suspect foul play.

Richman was the father of Avielle Richman, who was just six years old when she died during the Sandy Hook mass shooting that claimed the lives of 20 children and six adult staff members.'<rawstory

Richman was found by an electrician working in the Main Street building about 7 a.m., police said. His death is the third apparent suicide in a week in which the victim was tied to a mass shooting at a U.S. school.
“He was a brokenhearted person, as we all are,” Neil Heslin, whose 6-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, was killed at Sandy Hook, told The Courant Monday. “It’s sad. Just no words.” “Richman, a scientist who led the charge on mental health issues with his wife, Jennifer Hensel, in the wake of the shooting, had an office for the Avielle Foundation at Edmond Town Hall. The foundation pushed for brain research into what led to these deadly acts.” “Richman had a doctorate with experience in neuroscience and neuropsychopharmacology and Hensel is a multidisciplinary scientist with a master’s in pathobiology.
“There are no words to describe the tragic weight of today’s news.”

I just saw the story about Jeremy Richman in the Washington Post a few minutes ago. It’s all just too much for many closest to the victims of these mindless violent attacks on innocent children and teenagers. So the grieving widens further and still the Republicans in the US Congress will do absolutely nothing to stem the violence brought upon us all by guns.

I really do not think that the Founding Fathers had the least inkling that maniacs with weapons the kill so easily would ever emerge to commit such atrocities. The Second Amendment was about raising militias to protect settlers in remote areas; it had nothing to do with the arming of individuals so that they can commit mayhem against members of the public.

New Zealand has banned such weapons only days after the massacre in Christchurch; Norway banned them in the wake of a mass shooting of schoolchildren decades ago. And from the Republicans in this country who still control what happens to any federal legislation, absolute silence.
