A message from the old people to the young people, “Don’t Vote.”

By |2018-10-05T06:25:53-08:00October 6th, 2018|Categories: News|Tags: , , , , , , |9 Comments

I think this is a fairly brilliant advertisement.

And what it says is not wrong.

It’s the people in my generation who can be counted on to show up to the polls by the millions.

We do it every election, just like clockwork.

But not all of us vote for progress, a lot of folks in my demographic vote for the status quo, or for policies that benefit us now and screw future generations later.

If young people want a safer, cleaner, more forward-thinking country, they need to do only two things.

First, learn everything they can about the issues.

And second, vote like their lives depend on it.

Because you know what?

Their lives depend on it.

I guess I don’t see the point. Young people, with attention spans of a few nanoseconds, are liable to hear one voice in that ad telling them not to vote and then they’ll zone out of it and check their Facebook instead and they won’t bother to vote. It’s a gigantic boomerang ad. If the idea is to convince young people to do something simply by telling them not to, lots of luck. I think most of them will simply shrug their shoulders and say “who cares” and walk away, plugging their ear phones into senseless noise.

The son of the president has just declared war on American citizens. This has to be illegal.#Resist #ToiletPaperTrump

The son of the president declaring war on the liberal majority of our nation is a nice motivator to go out and vote next month.
You’re only saying this because if we win in November your risk of getting thrown in prison rises dramatically.
What @POTUS’s son is describing is a civil war. Literally wants a war against americans
VOTE. ALL lives depend on it.

    “a big fucking deal.”
“when the Republicans took the House in 2010—the most fateful midterm election in the history of the Democratic Party—Obama’s ability to move legislation through Congress ended after only two years. From then on, just about all he could do on the domestic side was issue executive orders, which have been easy for Trump to reverse.”

    “Republicans developed a habit of reflexively rejecting everything the president proposed, even if they had recently favored it.” {Even if They designed ~IT~}

a fork in road. One way leads to the validation of Donald Trump and makes his reelection more likely. Six more years of him as president would mean the extinction of nearly everything Barack Obama achieved beyond becoming the first black president. The other path offers a chance at redemption. “

It will not take six more years. This Predator-in-Chief has already undone virtually everything President Obama AND other Presidents before him did!
Now, radiation ‘is good for humans’. Dirty air and dirty water is ‘better for humans than clean one’. The rich need more tax breaks than the middle class does. Protection for women has been deemed unnecessary. Violence against women edict did not get Re-certified by the GOP. The budget for our National Parks has not been submitted. It ran out a couple of days ago. Rangers in National Parks are not allowed to be law-enforcement anymore. Their weapons have been confiscated a few days ago.
Corporations can do with impunity what they did a hundred years ago.

If that ‘brilliant advertisement’ was dubbed in Ru$$ian…

It’s a horrible ad. One of our problems is people thinking what the hell, I’ve got mine, fuck the rest. People in our generation are just as selfish and indifferent to consequences as today’s younger folk. One generation is supposed to ensure the future for the next generation and, to me, that advertisement shows a group of people who are more interested in preserving their status quo than anything else. Horrid, horrid ad. I’d be ashamed to know anyone who appeared in it.

I think you missed the point entirely.

      Watch it again.

      • Anonymous October 6, 2018 at 1:45 pm

I didn’t miss the point. The creator of the ad may be thinking reverse psychology, but I don’t think that ad does shit to motivate anyone except Republicans and the disenchanted. I’m a lifelong Democrat and even I am shaking my head over the upcoming election. I’ll vote, but to me, it’s already bought and paid for and not by the Democrats. And I’m too old to learn Russian or Chinese.
