A fourth member of the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors has resigned. The string of vacancies on the top gun advocate’s board comes amid a rash of inner turmoil and renewed scrutiny in the wake of two deadly mass shootings earlier this month.

Julie Golob, a professional sport shooter, wrote a resignation letter on her personal blog posted on Tuesday, saying she can “no longer commit to fulfilling the duties of a director.”

In recent days, leaked documents showed the group’s longtime leader Wayne LaPierre may have misused member dues, spending nearly $300,000 on designer clothes over 10 years and charging the NRA for luxury travel to the Bahamas, Budapest and Italy. Rising costs and controversy also led the group to shutter its entertainment arm — NRATV.

Earlier this year, the organization’s president Oliver North was pushed out of leadership after raising concerns about the NRA’s finances. LaPierre accused North and NRA’s top lobbyist Chris Cox of extortion at the time.

Now the group’s tax-exempt status is being investigated by both the New York and D.C. attorney general. Despite the growing exodus of leadership roles, the NRA still has deep pockets. It took in $170 million in member dues alone last year and, according to FEC filings from the presidential election, it has the president’s ear after spending $30 million to help him get elected in 2016.

This is an organization having a very public nervous breakdown.

And I love it!

I hope that they lose everybody off of their board and that the organization collapses like a house of cards on a windy day.

Perhaps THEN we could pass the kind of gun control measures like universal background checks and a ban on assault-style weapons that the majoirty of Americans support.

The only question to ask is now many more people will die unnecessarily before that happens?

The NRA board has 76 directors, so losing four directors is not that significant in itself. However, with all of the other changes, this starts to paint a picture of an organization that is in upheaval. And though $170m is a lot of money, it does not cover the NRA’s expenses, so apparently they have made the decision to sit out the 2020 election. Not that it matters since they have already bought almost every elected republican and a few democrats. Still, I admit that I enjoy tremendously watching the NRA self destruct.

tinydjt tweet$>Good things were stated on the call with China the other day. They are eating the Tariffs with the devaluation of their currency and “pouring” money into their system. The American consumer is fine with or without the September date, but much good will come from the short…..
deferral to December. It actually helps China more than us, but will be reciprocated. Millions of jobs are being lost in China to other non-Tariffed countries. Thousands of companies are leaving. Of course China wants to make a deal. Let them work humanely with Hong Kong first!

We need a law that requires NRA members clean up the blood and body parts at scenes of mass shootings.

Let them see the results of high power guns they say everyone should buy

Anon 2:40pm: Excellent suggestion. Or they should be forced to watch an autopsy and meet face-to-face with family members of the victims. Put Moscow Mitch, Wayne LaPierre and ManBaby Trump inside the Medical Examiners/Coroner’s office first.

Leaked emails show GOP lawmaker collaborated with extremist gun group that was preparing for ‘biblical warfare’

In Washington State’s legislature, Rep. Matt Shea is controversial even among fellow Republicans: he has distributed white supremacist Christian Identity literature and openly advocated violence against Muslims, gays and others he considers enemies of the United States. And according to a report by Jason Wilson for The Guardian, Shea has enthusiastically encouraged an extremist group called Team Rugged.

E-mails obtained by the Guardian show that Shea was in close contact with Team Rugged in 2016. Team Rugged, Wilson reports, offered training in “biblical warfare” to young Christian fundamentalist men — and that training included advice on ways in which guns and knives could be used on enemies. Shea, according to Wilson, made videos on behalf of the group.

    the nike jordan Hamilton comes

Toronto FC forward Jordan Hamilton couldn wait to do training on Monday afternoon. Not that he was in order to slack off. The Scarborough native loves nothing superior to being on the pitch with his teammates.

It just that he was anxious to get downtown in time to catch one of the Raptors parade. individuals Raptors fans, Hamilton had been having dreams about the day his favourite team (beyond TFC, for you to say) Won a tournament and he was over the moon when the Raptors pulled it off.

Grew up playing basketball in Toronto so I been a huge fan from a long time ago when they had players like Junkyard Dog and Jamario Moon and Antonio Davis and guys like that. And to see them come so far is certainly a proud moment, he said.

until he was in Grade 10, Hamilton wasn sure if soccer or basketball was the sport he would concentrate on exclusively. But when some kids he played with and against around the GTA started shooting up in height like current NBAers Andrew Wiggins and Dillon Brooks and began showing incredible potential on the hard court, Hamilton resolved to that soccer was for him.

Deciding factor was when I made the Youth 17 domestic (football) Team at 14 and then once you do you can really go back (To beautiful ukrainian girls hockey), documented Hamilton, Who has always been good friends with both Brooks and Wiggins.

“The only question to ask is now many more people will die unnecessarily before that happens?”

You could probably put a fairly good estimate on that, throw away the mass shootings, they are but a blip in the gun deaths statistically.

Suicides by firearms is no joke. And then also look at the large cities across the US with Gang violence. You’ll find much bigger numbers, exponentially, than the mass shooters that you dwell on. Even your hero Neil deGrasse Tyson tweeted about it to much disdain for the totalitarian leftists. Still not joking here, trying to help you out understand America since you never seem to leave your blog hovel, and you seem to be ‘losing it’ a bit.

“Each horrible act can’t become an ax for opportunists to cleave the very Bill of Rights that binds us.”

Those were the words of the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) president just days after a mass shooting left the country reeling and mourning. The year was 1999, and Charlton Heston was plowing ahead with an NRA convention in Denver, Colorado, mere miles from Columbine High School where 13 victims were shot and killed by two armed gunmen.

Speaking directly into the camera, in a video posted to YouTube and Twitter earlier this week, LaPierre reserved the bulk of his criticism not for the gunmen in the recent shootings, but for the “highly orchestrated effort to disarm American citizens unlike anything we’ve ever seen in this country.” “It’s an effort to destroy the NRA, to defame our millions of members and tens of millions of supporters — an effort that’s fueled by billionaires and a multi-billion dollar media machine that couldn’t care less about fighting crime,”

There are something like 38 members of the board of directors. But it’s an indication of the rot in the organization. The IRS is looking into them and they may lose their tax exempt status. Then there’s La Pierre’s demand for a multi million dollar mansion.
